What every residential plumber in Duncan, SC needs to understand about this community
Plumbing services Duncan, SC homeowners can count on from CB Smith
Drain cleaning
Slow drains, recurring clogs, and backed-up fixtures are among the most common calls we receive from Duncan homeowners. We clear blockages using professional drain snakes and hydro-jetting equipment, not store-bought chemicals that damage your pipes.
Water heater repair and replacement
Whether your water heater is leaking, producing inconsistent hot water, or has stopped working entirely, CB Smith diagnoses the problem and repairs or replaces the unit depending on what the situation actually requires.
Sewer line repair
Root intrusion, pipe deterioration, and ground movement affect sewer lines in Duncan homes across all age ranges. We camera-inspect the line before recommending any repair or replacement so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Leak detection and pipe repair
Pinhole leaks in aging galvanized pipe, failing joints in cast iron lines, and hidden leaks behind walls or under slabs require professional detection equipment to locate accurately. CB Smith finds the source and repairs it without unnecessary damage to your home.
Toilet repair and installation
A running toilet, a loose base, or a unit that will not flush properly are jobs our technicians handle on the same visit. We also install new toilets for remodels and replacement projects.
Faucet and fixture repair
Dripping faucets, worn-out valves, and damaged fixtures waste water and add up on your utility bill over time. CB Smith repairs or replaces fixtures throughout the home.
Water and sewer line services
For Duncan properties that need new water or sewer line installation, connection to the municipal system, or replacement of a failed main line, CB Smith handles the full scope of work from excavation through restoration.
Emergency plumbing
Burst pipes, sewage backups, and sudden water heater failures do not wait for business hours. CB Smith responds to plumbing emergencies across Duncan and Spartanburg County when your home needs help immediately.
Why choose CB Smith in Duncan, SC
Rooted in Spartanburg County since 1982
CB Smith is not a franchise operation or a regional chain dispatching technicians from two counties away. We are a family-owned company founded by Connie Smith in Spartanburg, and Duncan has been part of our service area since the beginning. That kind of continuity means something in a community where neighbors talk.
Technicians who know Upstate housing stock
Our plumbers have worked inside Duncan homes long enough to recognize the difference between a galvanized pipe system approaching the end of its life and one that has years left. That experience shapes every diagnosis we make and every recommendation we give.
Same-day service, frequently available
Duncan residents should not have to wait days for a plumber to show up. CB Smith keeps scheduling flexible so we can respond quickly to both routine calls and urgent situations without making you rearrange your week around a vague appointment window.
Straight talk on every job
A local plumbing company Duncan families can rely on does not upsell work that is not needed. CB Smith technicians tell you what they found, what it takes to fix it, and what can wait. You make the decision with full information, not sales pressure.
282 Google reviews and a reputation that spans decades

What Duncan homeowners deal with most, and what to do about it
Frozen and burst pipes during Upstate cold snaps. Duncan sits in a part of South Carolina where winter temperatures can drop hard and fast, particularly overnight. Homes with plumbing runs in uninsulated crawl spaces or along exterior walls are vulnerable every time a cold spell moves through the Upstate. When water inside a pipe freezes, it expands with enough force to split the pipe wall, and the damage does not become visible until the ice thaws and water starts flowing where it should not. CB Smith responds to burst pipe calls across Duncan and can help homeowners identify which runs in their home are most at risk before the next freeze arrives.
Aging pipe systems in established Duncan neighborhoods. Homes built in and around Duncan’s older areas before the 1980s were plumbed with materials that have long since passed their intended service life in many cases. Galvanized steel lines develop internal corrosion that restricts water flow gradually, making reduced pressure the first sign that something is wrong. Cast iron drain lines in crawl spaces deteriorate in Duncan’s humid climate and eventually crack or separate at the joints. Neither failure announces itself clearly until the damage is already significant, which is why CB Smith recommends a plumbing inspection for any Duncan homeowner moving into a home built before 1985.
Drain cleaning issues driven by Duncan’s tree canopy. Duncan’s established residential streets are lined with mature trees that add to the character of the community and create real problems for underground drain and sewer lines. Root intrusion is one of the most consistent causes of drain cleaning calls we receive from Duncan homeowners. Roots follow moisture, and the joints in older clay tile and cast iron sewer lines are reliable sources. Emergency plumber calls in Duncan, SC that involve sewage backing up through floor drains are frequently traced back to root intrusion that has been developing for years before the homeowner noticed any symptoms.
Water heater strain from Duncan’s year-round climate demands. Duncan’s summers are hot and humid, and its winters bring enough cold to push water heaters to work harder than they would in milder climates. A water heater that runs harder year-round reaches the end of its reliable service life faster, and many Duncan homeowners do not realize their unit is failing until they step into a cold shower or find water pooling around the base of the tank. CB Smith handles water heater repairs and replacements across Duncan with same-day availability on most calls.

Make CB Smith your plumber. They are great. Unfortunately CB Smith wasn’t available on the weekend so I called another plumber. Bad mistake. After having a bad experience with the other plumber that sent my dog to the hospital, my husband called Joe with CB Smith as we had a great experience with them before. Joe has guided me through a large sewer issue. Mike Welch came over as our toilet was backing up. While not even making much money, he has been responsive to calls and texts. He has provided advice and gave us options that have really helped us save thousands by doing some things ourself. Joe sent Mike Welch over to help us. Mike was able to camera the sewer pipe and let us know exactly where it was. Going out to the street and provide us where he was running into an issue. It is now looking like it’s a water company issue. Even though Joe won’t be making much on this issue, he still says to keep him in the loop. Such an awesome person. Please give Joe, Mike and CB Smith Plumbing your business. You won’t regret it.
