Gas Line Services in Greenville
Commercial gas lines supply the fuel needed for restaurant equipment, water heaters, heating systems, and other business operations. Damaged piping, inadequate gas supply, or outdated connections can affect equipment performance and create serious safety concerns.
CB Smith Plumbing provides commercial gas line services in Greenville and throughout Upstate South Carolina. Our team handles gas line installation, repair, replacement, and extensions while considering equipment requirements, system capacity, and applicable safety codes.

Commercial Gas Line Installation, Repair, and Replacement
Commercial gas piping needs vary depending on the property’s equipment, existing infrastructure, and planned improvements. CB Smith Plumbing provides gas line services for new installations, existing systems, and commercial renovations.
Common reasons businesses need professional gas line services include:
- New equipment installation: Adding gas-powered ranges, ovens, water heaters, or other commercial appliances.
- Renovations and relocations: Extending or rerouting gas lines to accommodate changes in equipment placement or building layouts.
- Business expansion: Modifying existing piping to support additional equipment and increased fuel demand.
- Gas line repairs: Addressing damaged connections, leaks, corrosion, or other piping defects.
- Gas line replacement: Replacing deteriorated or damaged piping that no longer meets the property’s needs.
- System evaluations: Determining whether existing gas lines can safely accommodate new or higher-capacity equipment.
Commercial gas line work requires evaluating the entire fuel delivery system, not just individual appliance connections. Proper planning helps ensure the piping supports equipment demands and meets applicable requirements.
Proper Gas Line Sizing for Commercial Equipment
Commercial gas line installation requires piping that can deliver sufficient fuel to all connected equipment. Proper sizing depends on several factors, including:
- Total gas demand: The combined fuel requirements of connected appliances and equipment.
- Pipe length and diameter: The distance gas travels and the piping dimensions that affect delivery capacity.
- Gas pressure: The pressure available throughout the system and required at appliance connections.
- Pipe material and fittings: Components that influence gas flow and pressure loss.
The International Fuel Gas Code establishes sizing requirements based on these factors to help ensure safe, reliable fuel delivery.
Adding or upgrading equipment can increase demand beyond what existing piping supports. For example, a restaurant installing higher-capacity cooking equipment may need larger supply lines, even when existing connections appear suitable.
Commercial renovations and buildouts may require gas lines to be extended or rerouted. Even businesses expanding operations without changing their building’s footprint may need piping modifications to accommodate additional equipment.
CB Smith Plumbing evaluates commercial gas piping requirements during equipment upgrades, renovations, and expansions. Addressing these needs early helps businesses identify necessary modifications before installation or construction begins.
Signs of Commercial Gas Line Problems
Commercial gas line problems can affect equipment performance and create serious safety hazards. Business owners and property managers should recognize warning signs that may indicate damaged or leaking piping.
Common warning signs include:
- Rotten egg or sulfur-like odors: Natural gas is typically odorized to help identify leaks, although not every leak produces a noticeable smell.
- Hissing sounds: Unusual sounds near gas lines or connections may indicate escaping gas.
- Visible corrosion or damage: Rust, deteriorated connections, or physical damage may compromise gas piping.
- Equipment performance issues: Unexplained changes in gas-powered equipment performance may indicate a supply or pressure problem.
If you suspect a gas leak, evacuate the affected building immediately. From a safe location, contact your gas utility or emergency services. Avoid operating electrical switches, using flames, or creating other potential ignition sources. Do not attempt to locate or repair the leak yourself.
Commercial gas leak detection and repair require qualified professionals who can identify problems and perform necessary repairs safely.
Commercial Gas Line Repair and Replacement
Damaged or deteriorating gas piping requires professional evaluation to determine whether repair or replacement is appropriate. The extent of the damage, pipe condition, and existing system requirements influence the recommended approach.
- Gas line repair: Isolated leaks, damaged connections, or localized defects may be repairable when the surrounding piping remains in suitable condition.
- Gas line replacement: Extensive corrosion, widespread damage, deteriorated piping, or inadequate system capacity may require replacing or reconfiguring portions of the gas system.
Commercial gas line service may involve isolating the gas supply, inspecting piping and connections, identifying defects, and performing appropriate repairs or replacements. Completed work requires proper testing to confirm the system is gas-tight and meets applicable safety requirements.
CB Smith Plumbing provides commercial gas line repair and replacement in Greenville, SC. Our team evaluates piping conditions and equipment requirements to determine appropriate solutions for existing gas systems.

Commercial Gas Line Maintenance and Safety
Commercial gas piping should be included in routine facility assessments, particularly when equipment changes or renovations affect existing systems. Identifying potential problems early helps businesses address safety concerns and plan necessary repairs.
Property owners and facility managers should be aware of:
- Visible corrosion or damage: Rust, deterioration, or physical damage to exposed gas piping.
- Appliance connection problems: Damaged or deteriorating connections that may require professional evaluation.
- Construction-related changes: Renovations or nearby construction that could affect existing gas lines.
- Equipment upgrades: New or higher-capacity appliances that may require modifications to the gas supply.
- Recurring equipment issues: Repeated performance problems that could indicate gas supply concerns.
Maintaining records of gas line installations, repairs, and modifications can also help with future renovations and equipment upgrades. Qualified professionals should evaluate suspected piping defects rather than allowing facility staff to investigate or repair them.

Make CB Smith your plumber. They are great. Unfortunately CB Smith wasn’t available on the weekend so I called another plumber. Bad mistake. After having a bad experience with the other plumber that sent my dog to the hospital, my husband called Joe with CB Smith as we had a great experience with them before. Joe has guided me through a large sewer issue. Mike Welch came over as our toilet was backing up. While not even making much money, he has been responsive to calls and texts. He has provided advice and gave us options that have really helped us save thousands by doing some things ourself. Joe sent Mike Welch over to help us. Mike was able to camera the sewer pipe and let us know exactly where it was. Going out to the street and provide us where he was running into an issue. It is now looking like it’s a water company issue. Even though Joe won’t be making much on this issue, he still says to keep him in the loop. Such an awesome person. Please give Joe, Mike and CB Smith Plumbing your business. You won’t regret it.
